World Rally Championship star Craig Breen will drive a Hyundai i20 R5 in the 2020 European Rally Championship.
Competing under the Team MRF banner, Breen will use the Indian firm’s tyres on his first campaign in the ERC since finishing second in the series in a Peugeot in 2015.
Breen’s Hyundai will be run by Italian team BRC Racing.
The Irishman, who was recently announced as part of Hyundai Motorsport’s WRC squad for next week’s Rally Sweden, worked with MRF on product development in its bid to run the WRC’s control tyre from 2021 onwards.
In the absence of that WRC programme, MRF is now looking to the European series.
“I am really looking forward to embarking on this journey in the European Rally Championship,” Breen said.
“It will be a great adventure to get back to some rallies I have done in the past along with some new rallies.”
Hyundai Motorsport director Andrea Adamo added: “I am really looking forward to seeing the results of this new partnership between MRF Tyres and the BRC Racing Team.
“The European Rally Championship is one of the most important series in the sport. The season includes some very famous events, and is a great test for the cars, and for the tyres in all conditions.”
The ERC kicks off with the Azores Rally next month and concludes with round eight in Hungary in November.
