The route for the inaugural Central European Rally, the penultimate round of this year’s World Rally Championship, has been altered from what was originally revealed.
Based in the German city of Passau but with competitive action in Austria and the Czech Republic, Central European Rally is the first event in WRC history to be organized by three separate ASNs.
The initial route was unveiled back in July but remained provisional with approval procedures ongoing, and changes have since been made to the Czech element since that first announcement.
The biggest change centers on the Klatovy superspecial stage, which was supposed to run after Friday morning’s loop but has now been moved forward to Thursday – meaning there are two different superspecial stages on the first day after the ceremonial start in Prague at 1pm local time.
This is said to “significantly simplify route planning and logistics for teams and spectators”.
As a result, there will no longer be a tire fitting zone at Klatovy on Friday and instead a service area in Prachatice.
Saturday and Sunday’s action in Germany and Austria remains unchanged.
Central European Rally is scheduled for October 26-29.
