Ten dead and more wounded in gunfire attack at Mexican event

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem says he has been left horrified by an attack that took place on last weekend’s Baja California.

A gunfight broke out on the Mexican event on Saturday afternoon, leaving 10 people dead and another 10 wounded.

On Monday afternoon, the FIA issued a press release expressing his horror at the events which unfolded.

“I am horrified by the reports of an appalling attack at the Baja California Rally in Mexico,” said Ben Sulayem.

“Motorsport events should be safe places for participants and spectators.

“On behalf of the whole FIA family our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this senseless violence.”
