Kris Meeke will compete in the next round of the European Rally Championship, Rali Ceredigion, in a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

The Northern Irishman, who won the Intercontinental Rally Challenge title in 2009, will be co-driven by Noel O’Sullivan on the September 4-6 event which is also a round of the British Rally Championship.

“It’s a big thanks to all my sponsors who’ve helped me out again, especially KES and the local sponsors, and of course, thanks to everyone for supporting me and making it possible; it’s very exciting,” said Meeke.

“I’m hopeful, but I don’t underestimate the challenge with guys like Teemu Suninen, who’s been rallying every weekend… But I’m excited for the challenge and a big thanks to everyone that has made it possible. Let’s see what happens.”

Suninen currently leads the ERC standings by 25 points over Lancia driver Andrea Mabellini.

Meeke last drove a Rally2 car at Portugal’s Rali da Madeira where a mistake cost him victory. He drove a Toyota at the Donegal International Rally in June, and was leading the event ahead of M-Sport Rally1 pilot Josh McErlean before it was stopped due to a spectator fatality.

Meeke’s last event in the UK was the 2023 Roger Albert Clark Rally where the engine in his Ford Escort Mk2 expired.
