Sébastien Ogier will return to World Rally Championship action at next month’s Acropolis Rally Greece.
Ogier briefly led this year’s WRC after round three in México, but is currently fifth in the standings as he is only completing a part-time season for Toyota alongside co-driver Vincent Landais.
So far in 2023 Ogier has driven five of the nine rallies and won three of them including on his last appearance, Safari Rally Kenya, in June.
But in a social media story congratulating Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin on their Rally Finland victory at the weekend, Ogier revealed that the Acropolis (September 7-10) would mark his next appearance.
“Super proud of my team again!” Ogier said. “Very well done and a fantastic result!
“Congratulations especially to Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin and also very happy for Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston for the podium.
“See you soon in Greece.”
Ogier’s presence means Takamoto Katsuta will not be registered for manufacturer points as he has been on the last two events in Estonia and Finland.
Hyundai meanwhile has already confirmed that, as first reported by DirtFish, Dani Sordo will be back behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 for Greece too.
“We look forward to seeing Esapekka back with Dani and Thierry in Greece after a well-deserved break for most of the rally community,” said Hyundai team principal Cyril Abiteboul.
Ten Rally1 cars will therefore compete on the Acropolis, with Jourdan Serderidis driving a third Ford Puma Rally1 on his home event.
