Two drivers will make their Rally1 debuts as the World Rally Championship returns to Rally Chile later this month, and both will drive Ford Puma Rally1s.

As reported by DirtFish back in February, Grgoire Munster will get a Rally1 chance in the car owned by Jourdan Serderidis.

He and co-driver Louis Louka have been competing for M-Sport in WRC2 this season, although have twice dipped into the Rally3 Fiesta and Junior WRC in 2023 – recording victory in Estonia.

Local driver Alberto Heller is the second new driver to drive a Rally1 car on Rally Chile. He’ll be co-driven by Luis Ernesto Allende.

The rest of the Rally1 entry is predictable. As already announced, Hyundai will run Teemu Suninen in its third car while there’ll be just three Toyotas with Sébastien Ogier not making the trip to South America.

There’s another healthy WRC2 entry though, with Oliver Solberg, Gus Greensmith, Yohan Rossel, Sami Pajari and reigning champion Emil Lindholm all competing in Chile.

Andreas Mikkelsen is the frontrunner who won’t make the trip, but he is expected to appear on Central European Rally. Chile meanwhile will be Solberg’s last points-scoring opportunity.

Rally Chile, which has only run in the WRC once back in 2019, takes place from September 28-October 1.
