Toyota’s pair of world championship-winning part-time drivers, Kalle Rovanperä and Sébastien Ogier, will be in its lineup for next month’s Rally Portugal.
It marks the first time since last year’s World Rally Championship season finale in Japan that the pair have been placed in the lineup together; Ogier was present at the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally, then Rovanperä was present for Sweden and Kenya. Ogier is driving the third Yaris in Croatia this week.
Takamoto Katsuta will also be present in a GR Yaris Rally1 but in a non-points-scoring capacity. It will be the second time this season that Toyota has run four cars; it also did so in Sweden, with private customer Lorenzo Bertelli renting a factory-run car for Rally Sweden in February.
Thus far Ogier has the highest points-per-round contribution to Toyota’s total, having picked up 24 points on his way to second place overall on the Monte.
Toyota currently holds a slim four-point advantage over Hyundai in the constructors’ championship heading to Rally Croatia.
