The shakedown stage on the Central European Rally has been interrupted due to a road accident near to the start of the stage, DirtFish understands.

Four drivers – Kalle Rovanperä, Elfyn Evans, Thierry Neuville and Ott Tänak – made it through the 2.25-mile warm-up stage before it was halted.

In a social media statement, the World Rally Championship said: “Shakedown has been interrupted due to the requirement of emergency service vehicles on the stage to attend a non rally-related matter in the local area.”

No rally cars are believed to have been involved.

DirtFish understands the incident didn’t occur on the route from the Passau service park to the Tittling shakedown stage, but in the nearby area.

The shakedown stage has since restarted.
