M-Sport Poland’s updated Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo will make its World Rally Championship debut this week as it becomes the new spec vehicle for Junior WRC.

The upgraded Fiesta made its debut in the European Rally Championship earlier this month courtesy of two-time JWRC runner-up Jon Armstrong.

The Northern Irishman drove the car to two class wins in the ERC on Rally Islas Canarias and Rally Poland just over a week ago.

But now this year’s crop of Junior WRC drivers will get their hands on the new car, based on a facelifted version of the Fiesta, for this week’s Rally Italy Sardinia – round three of five of the 2023 JWRC.

M-Sport Poland managing director Maciej Woda said: “I am very proud to see another step forward for Junior WRC and M-Sport Poland this weekend with the introduction of the Fiesta Rally3 Evo.

“It’s a result of close to two years of continuous improvement and development by the talented team back at M-Sport Poland’s headquarters in Kraków.

“I think bringing the updated cars to the Junior WRC field mid-season underlines our commitment to ensuring the very best Rally3 cars are available to all Junior WRC competitors.”

Eight drivers will compete in Junior WRC this weekend, including championship leader William Creighton, his chief rival Laurent Pellier and Croatia Rally winner Eamonn Kelly.

Diego Domínguez, Tom Rensonnet, Roberto Blach, Raúl Hernández and Hamza Anwar complete the field.
