Gus Greensmith has confirmed he will remain with the Toksport Škoda team for the 2024 season.

There had been speculation that the Englishman could return to M-Sport Ford, where he’d competed at the highest level for the previous three years. That topflight return is, however, on hold while Greensmith hopes to complete the WRC2 job he started last season.

After winning two rounds and finishing second overall in a Fabia RS Rally2 last year, Greensmith’s aims are clear for the year ahead with the Czech Republic manufacturer.

“It’s fantastic to be with Škoda for 2024,” he said. “We had great success together in 2023 and both share the collective ambition to fight for the World [Rally] Championship this year.

“But, instead of finishing second, our goal is to be one place higher and win the world championship. That’s the aim and with operations looked after by Toksport, I am really looking forward to continuing my work with Škoda Motorsport.”

Greensmith has confirmed he won’t start his 2024 program with this month’s Monte Carlo Rally and will only compete at WRC level while scoring points in WRC2. Preparation for WRC rounds will, however, include national-level events.

The field for this year’s WRC2 title race is filling out now with Greensmith’s fellow Škoda driver Oliver Solberg detailing his return last month and Sam Pajari confirming his Rally2 intentions aboard a Printsport Racing-run Toyota on Friday.
