Gus Greensmith will remain with the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team for a fourth consecutive World Rally Championship season, joining Craig Breen in driving a Ford Puma Rally1 in 2022.
Greensmith, 24, joined M-Sport’s World Rally Car ranks in 2019 before contesting his first full season last year during the truncated 2020 campaign.
He has shown improvement since he first joined the squad when he garnered a reputation for crashing, stamping out mistakes this season and recording a best finish of fourth at Safari Rally Kenya.

Breen was announced as M-Sport’s lead driver in October. There is currently no news on who will drive the third car, but Adrien Fourmaux is expected to do so, while nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb is also linked with a drive on a part-time basis.
Greensmith is contesting this weekend’s Monza Rally with Jonas Andersson as his co-driver, but a decision on whether the two will continue into next season will likely be made after the rally.
“I have been very happy with my improvements throughout the year and it means a lot to be representing the team going into 2022, where it seems that the guys and girls have done a fantastic job at creating a very competitive package,” said Greensmith.
M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson added: “He has impressed me a lot this year with how much he has developed and disciplined himself while improving his pace.
“Gus is developing into a strong member of the team and I am looking forward to celebrating more success with him and the team next year.”
