‘I’m a bit detached from reality’ – in conversation with Adamo

Hyundai's charismatic boss talks to DirtFish about his lengthy career, time at Hyundai and impending WRC matters

It hasn’t taken long for Andrea Adamo to establish himself as one of the World Rally Championship’s most charismatic figures, but there’s a whole lot more to a bona fide motorsport nut than the emotional celebrations and brief – occasionally curt – interviews we’ve become so accustomed to.

From how his passion for motorsport was sparked, to Adamo’s beginnings with Lancia and then Alfa Romeo, and his favorite car, driver and rally of all time, little is off-limits in this 80-minute bonus episode of Spin, the Rally Pod.

More contemporary topics, including how the opportunity to join Hyundai – initially through its Customer Racing program – first came about, just as he was ready to turn his back on motorsport, plus his signing of Ott Tänak, and the WRC’s adoption of hybrid power for 2022 are also discussed.

We could go on about what’s coming up – and we really could – but we won’t. Instead, sit back, relax, and listen to an hour and 20 minutes in conversation with the biggest of personalities in the WRC.
