Must Rovanperä apply an all-or-nothing approach?

Kalle Rovanperä has 57 reasons to be worried by the form of his Toyota team-mate Elfyn Evans.

Even if he records a perfect 35-pointer at this week’s Rally Islas Canarias and Evans fails to score, Rovanperä will still be 22 points back.

Far from ideal, but realistically it’s all just white noise to a two-time world champion Rovanperä. The eyes are only forward – so what can he do?

Beating Evans is almost a necessity, and a first podium of the season would hardly go amiss, but how does he get there? Does he throttle back and just make sure he banks some points, or go on the offensive and throw everything at it because… well, what’s he got to lose?

David Evans and Luke Barry pick up the debate on this week’s SPIN, The Rally Pod, while also providing a flavor of what they’ve experienced so far in Gran Canaria.
