This is Martijn Wydaeghe’s almost daily ride and now we’re in the seat with him for a fabulous, two-minute insight into what goes on in the car at a test. Of course, it’s not the whole story, but it’s a start. Wydaeghe’s decision to put down the pacenote book and pick up the camera is one we should all be grateful for.
Neuville has been among the World Rally Championship’s more vociferous voices demanding change in terms of media output, visibility and promotion. It’s a small thing, but this video is a demonstration that he’s willing to lead by example.
“It’s one video,” Neuville told DirtFish. “It’s not going to change the world and I think we have many more important things to be thinking about, but it’s a small step and if we all start making small steps then they can and will lead to bigger steps.
“We wanted to give an insight and a different lens on what it’s like in the car. It’s just a different angle, but it tells a little bit more the story. The story of this sport is quite amazing and I wanted to use this to show people another side of our life as a driver and co-driver.”
