For those of you who thought you’d never see Estonia’s Kehala Ring lapped faster than Colin Clark and David Evans managed in a pair of CrossKarts, think again. Ott Tänak is going to show the DirtFish pair the way home.
The reigning World Rally Champion will contest the Kehala Rally next month, driving a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.
The November 14 event is a new one based in and around the rallycross and test venue east of Tallinn.
Tänak told DirtFish: “It’s something new and something quite exciting. The organizers are working hard to put this event on and it’s good to come and support it.
“It’s always nice to bring the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC home to drive, so I’m looking forward to it. The timing is quite useful – it’s the weekend before Ypres, so it’s good seat time. I’m just not sure the conditions will be too similar.”
The nine-stage event comprises 35 competitive miles, the vast majority of which will be on gravel.
The Kehala Ring was the venue for DirtFish’s CrossKart race in the days before the inaugural Rally Estonia. Tänak wasn’t present for the Evans v Clark race, but he’s seen the video.
“The video was… interesting,” he said. “I heard about the performance from those two – I don’t think I have too much to worry about!”
