Toyota has switched its livery from black to silver for the upcoming summer season of gravel rallies in the World Rally Championship.
Internal cockpit temperatures in Rally1 cars are at their highest during events like Portugal (May 15-18), Sardinia (June 5-8) and Acropolis (June 26-29), which are the next three rounds of the calendar. A switch from black paint to reflective silver may help slightly reduce heat inside the cockpit of the GR Yaris Rally1s.
When the team will pivot from silver back to black is not clear, though the suggestion is the livery used on the opening rounds of the season will be back for the asphalt rallies towards the end of the year.
