Video: Petter Solberg on Oliver’s path to the WRC

The 2003 champion discusses his son's journey to rallying's top flight ahead of Oliver's debut this weekend

Ahead of Oliver Solberg’s debut in a World Rally Car, DirtFish spoke to 2003 WRC champion Petter Solberg to find out how his son reached the top of the rallying pyramid at just 19 years old.

Petter explains how he showed Oliver “ice hockey, football, tennis and dancing,” at a young age, but he still ended up following in his parents’ footsteps by pursuing a career behind the wheel.

From Oliver’s time in CrossKarts to the mentorship he received during the three years he spent at the FFSA academy in France, Petter recalls his son’s rapid rise through the ranks that ultimately led to him securing a dream top-flight debut aboard a Hyundai i20 Couple WRC on this weekend’s Arctic Rally Finland.
