Relive the story of one of the World Rally Championship’s most successful partnerships with this feature video charting Subaru’s and Motul’s time together.
Subaru had already tasted WRC success before Motul came on board in 1999, winning the 1995-1997 manufacturers’ titles and running Colin McRae to the drivers’ crown in the first of those seasons.
But the marque and its iconic blue and neon yellow colors would send two more drivers, Richard Burns in 2001 and Petter Solberg two years later, to the top of the world – in part thanks to Motul’s work to optimize the performance of the Impreza’s two-liter, flat-four boxer engine with an oil capable of performing in the various extremes offered by the WRC calendar.
Find out more about the history of Subaru in the WRC and Motul in motorsport, and their 10-season partnership, in our latest short production.
