When Ott Tänak held his Hyundai i20 on the ragged edge to win in Finland last year, many hailed it as his best ever World Rally Championship drive. But, now driving M-Sport’s Ford Puma, was Tänak’s winning performance on Rally Sweden even better?
Tänak himself points out that he was only fast enough to win a single stage on the event, while team boss Malcolm Wilson believes it was Tänak’s own tenacity and supremacy that carried him to victory.
The fact that Tänak fought a weekend-long battle with Hyundai’s Craig Breen – the two having swapped teams after each became disgruntled at their former employers – only added to the storyline.
