Rallycross returned for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown came into force with Olsbergs’ ‘RX Quarantine SuperCar Lites Shoot-Out’ event at Höljes.

The invitational competition, organized by the Olsbergs MSE team, was held behind closed doors with less than 50 people in attendance to keep within government guidelines.

Utilizing the squad’s SuperCar Lites cars, the shootout consisted of timed qualifying, with four rounds of qualifying races and a final, attracting a host of Swedish rallycross drivers.

After winning Q3 and Q4 in the morning to top qualifying, Linus Östlund dominated the final of the event, winning comfortably by over 3.5s. He beat RX2 regular Simon Olofsson, while Martin Enlund was third.

Enlund made the most of an early joker to overhaul Andréas Eriksson who finished fourth after pressuring Östlund early on, only to drop back late on.

Olsbergs boss Eriksson, competing in his first race since 2012 and his first time driving the Lites car since 2013, was a last-minute entry into the competition’s latter stages, driving a ‘joker’ car which featured a rotating line-up throughout the event.

Niklas Aneklev claimed fifth, with Nils Andersson rounding out the six-car final field.

Two-time World Rallycross champion Johan Kristoffersson made his long-awaited rallycross return early on in the event, competing in timed qualifying and the Q1 race, both of which he won, in the Joker car.
