Jon Armstrong crashed out of Rally Portugal on the first stage of Saturday afternoon.
The M-Sport driver was just 600 meters onto SS15 Felgueiras 2 when he was slightly too fast into a right-hander and nudged the bank on the left.
That spun Armstrong’s Ford Puma Rally1 around and pitched him into a roll and off the road.
Both he and co-driver Shane Byrne are OK but have retired from Saturday at the very least.
They had been 10th overall, fighting back into the points on Saturday morning after losing power steering on Friday afternoon.
