M-Sport Ford has pulled the covers off the car it hopes will restore it to the front of the World Rally Championship in 2022 during the official season launch in Salzburg.
M-Sport had a difficult 2021 season with no rally wins or podiums and just a single stage win, but it put a lot of its resources into its all-new Puma Rally1 Hybrid early in order to make sure it can be as competitive as it can be from the off.
In testing, the Puma has been seen in a black livery but M-Sport has gone purple for 2022 with a striking design that prominently features Red Bull’s infamous design – no surprise given the deal to sign Adrien Fourmaux and Sébastien Loeb for the season.
There are flashes of green to the rear to cater for oil partner Castrol but the base color consists of varying shades of purple and clear lighting effects at both ends to symbolize the WRC’s move to hybrid power.
Craig Breen and Gus Greensmith will join Fourmaux in completing a full WRC season in the Puma Rally1 but Loeb’s deal, for now at least, is for next week’s Monte Carlo Rally season opener only.
