Dai Roberts has been killed in an accident during the Jim Clark Rally, round three of the British Rally Championship.

A Hyundai i20 N Rally2 driven by James Williams, for whom Roberts was navigating, crashed on stage eight, Edrom. Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene, Police Scotland confirmed.

“Motorsport UK has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident and will work closely with the Jim Clark Rally event organizers and Jim Clark Memorial Motor Club and will cooperate with the relevant authorities.”

Roberts was part of a rallying family: he was the older brother of Gareth Roberts, who passed away in an accident at the 2012 Targa Florio while co-driving for Craig Breen. His father Mike Roberts has been a regular competitor in British rallying since the late 1980s.

DirtFish sends its condolences to Roberts’ family and friends.
