Hyundai Motorsport is awaiting a decision from the organizers of Sunday’s Hemicuda Rally to see if Ott Tänak and Craig Breen can compete there instead of the canceled South Belgium Rally.

The Alzenau-based squad confirmed to DirtFish it has lodged a request with the Koekelare-based event to make room for a pair of i20 Coupe WRCs. It had planned to be in South Belgium on Saturday, but that event was canceled this morning.

Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier are already confirmed for the 54-mile, eight-stage event.

A source told DirtFish: “The original plan was to head to Vresse-sur-Semois [for South Belgium] on Saturday. With Breen already having done the Aarova Rally earlier this month, the team had done a rally on roads similar to what they find in Ypres.

“South Belgium event was run on roads more like the ones on the final day of Ypres in and around Francorchamps.

“Now it’s not possible, the team is keen to try to make the other event. They have to wait to find out what is the decision of the organizers – don’t forget, this is a fairly small national rally without the big infrastructure to cope with two big world championship teams landing on it.”
