Video: Tänak’s latest setback is symptomatic of a sour season

DirtFish's Colin Clark and David Evans discuss the latest blow to Tänak's Hyundai hopes

As the defending winner of Rally Estonia, Ott Tänak must have headed to his home round of the World Rally Championship season hoping for some redemption.

Having endured a painful first half of the season, after which a second world title already looked a long shot, Tänak showed the pace to back up his billing as one of the pre-event favorites early on Friday morning by going fastest on Arula, the first test of the day, to move into the lead.

But that fast start soon unraveled, as he first suffered a puncture on SS3 and then two more on the following stage, forcing his retirement for the day.

Colin Clark is joined by David Evans to discuss Tänak’s latest troubles in the wider context of his 2021 campaign, and why this setback surely marks the end of the Hyundai driver’s title challenge.
