Not wanting to waste any time in getting behind the wheel of a Ford, Craig Breen will drive his own Ford Escort WRC at this weekend’s Rallylegend.

The ex-Patrick Snijers Escort has been completely rebuilt to its original 1997 specification in time for Breen’s third successive outing on the San Marino event he won in 2018. He will be co-driven by his girlfriend Tamara Molinaro.

“I’ve always loved the Escort WRC,” said Breen. “My dad drove one back at home in 1998 and 1999 and the memories are just fantastic of that car.

“I don’t know what it was about that Patrick Snijers car that I love, but the Bastos livery, everything just looks right on the thing.

“When I got the chance to buy it, I didn’t hesitate and now to be driving it at Rallylegend is something very special for me.”

Breen admitted the Escort WRC outing wouldn’t be his last in a classic Ford rally car.

“Signing to drive with M-Sport and Ford brings access to such history and heritage from our sport,” said Breen.

“It’s fair to say we’ve a few plans – and a few plans for what we’re going to be doing with DirtFish in the coming months. I guess you’ll just have to watch this space…”
