Hyundai Motorsport N driver Jari Huttunen will start this week’s Rally Finland despite rolling his i20 N Rally2 at his pre-event test on Monday.

The Finn’s car is being re-prepared ahead of shakedown on Friday with parts being shipped from Alzenau in Germany to Jyväskylä through the week.

Asked about the crash, Huttunen told DirtFish: “There was a long left corner – almost flat out – and there was a rock in the middle of the road at the end of the corner. We hit it and the front came up so we couldn’t turn anymore so we went into the ditch and rolled from there.”

Huttunen’s season has offered a mixed bag so far, with a stunning fifth place and class win in Sardinia giving way to two crashes in three rallies across Estonia, Ypres and Barum Rally Zlín in the European Rally Championship.

He does, however, have a strong record at home – he has finished second in WRC2 on the last two Rally Finlands after a debut R5 win in Jyväskylä in 2017.
