Breen and Neuville are preparing for their Ypres returns locally, but debutant Tänak has been sent to France

Hyundai Motorsport driver Ott Tänak got his first taste of Belgian rallying on Tuesday… in France.

The defending World Rally Champion was running the test i20 Coupe WRC ahead of next month’s penultimate WRC round of 2020. The test site was a couple of miles across the border into France, but on roads representative of those in the Flanders region.

Tänak’s team-mate and last year’s Ypres Rally winner Craig Breen tested close to the town of Ypres on Monday and Thierry Neuville will be in the same area of Belgium on Wednesday.

Hyundai was set to field cars in the Hemicuda Rally and the South Belgium Rally as preparation for the WRC round, but both rallies were cancelled following a rise in coronavirus cases in Belgium.
