After a week in the deep freeze watching the world’s best test for next week’s Arctic Rally Finland, Colin Clark catches up with a few folk who know all about competing in the white stuff.
Clark grills fellow DirtFish SPIN, The Rally Pod regular George Donaldson on his time driving cars ranging from a 1275GT Mini to a Ford Sierra XR4x4 in the snow. Tony Jardine fell in love with Lapland and became something of an Arctic regular, tackling the event seven times to rack up plenty of tales to tell.
Kristian Sohlberg is the man with the best story. He finished second on the 2005 Arctic Rally, driving a Ford Focus RS WRC, with now Toyota sporting director Kaj Lindström alongside. Things didn’t quite go to plan come the Swedish WRC round though, crashing out in a similar Focus RS WRC (pictured above).
