Apple Podcasts // Spotify // ART19 // RadioPublic // TuneIn

Spin brings together our ‘Voice of Rally’ Colin Clark, DirtFish’s senior staff writer David Evans and long-time World Rally Championship team manager George Donaldson, under the authority of presenter Lisa O’Sullivan, for a regular discussion show plus exclusive audio interviews.

The podcast has so far tackled the tricky topics like Rally México’s abrupt early finish and other effects of the global coronavirus pandemic, but has also touched upon and laughed about the lighter side of the WRC and the wider rallying world, and been filled with several hours of classic Colin.

Spin also takes you back through rallying history, telling the inside stories of unforgettable moments – including in our current ‘Now that’s what Derek calls the 90s’ mini-series going behind the scenes of Mitsubishi’s WRC heyday with leading team figure Derek Dauncey.

And there’s nothing like a long audio interview to really get inside the heart and mind of a character, something we do plenty of on Spin – with Hyundai team boss Andrea Adamo among our recent in-depth chats.

Three favourites to listen to first

Episode 1 of Spin is where it all began, and is the best place to get to know the podcast presenting crew if you don’t know them all already.

Recapping Rally Sweden may not be particularly prophetic for the rest of 2020 given we’re not expecting any more WRC rounds in snow, but it’s good to jump back into the hot topics of the service park so far.

Whether you can remember the 1990s or not, and some of the newsdesk team and our readers were unfortunately born too late to do so, the first part of the ‘Now that’s what Derek calls the 90s’ series is a real eye-opener into how tough WRC rallies could be prior to the current centralized format coming in. Enjoy the full tale of how Tommi Mäkinen and the works Mitsubishi team conquered the original Safari Rally at the first attempt.

If you’re looking for a really long and really relaxing listen, then the 82-minute Bonus Spin with Hyundai Motorsport team boss Andrea Adamo cannot be missed. He is a captivating character, and talks in detail about how his time at Abarth shaped the man we see in the service park today, and of his love for the Brabham BT52.
