Oliver Solberg will return to RallyX Nordic at next month’s blockbuster ‘All-Star’ Magic Weekend at Höljes, competing in the event’s Supercar class.

The 18-year-old son of 2003 World Rally and 2014-15 World Rallycross champion Petter Solberg will drive his father’s World Championship-winning DS3 supercar, the same car he drove in his own championship-winning RallyX Nordic season in 2018.

More recently he drove the car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (pictured below) and at the Gymkhana GRiD final in Poland in 2019, going head-to-head against his father in timed runs on both occasions.

“Everything is a little bit different this year and we have to be really thankful for people making events like this; it was the same with Rally Sweden Lockdown in Torsby earlier this month,” said Solberg, who won that event in a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.

“For sure, this Magic Weekend will be different to the one we saw before, but the main thing is that we are going to be racing and that is fantastic news.”

The event will mark Solberg’s first competitive rallycross outing since 2018, and he will be looking to turn around the Solberg family’s fortunes at the Swedish track. Oliver finished fourth on his last visit to the track, while in six starts across European and World Rallycross, Petter’s best result was third.

Oliver added: “It’s a great place to race and the competition is always really close, but it’s a race my dad never won – maybe this would be a good time to change that for the Solberg family.”

Solberg joins a star-studded list of entrants which includes double World RX champion Johan Kristoffersson, two-time Euro RX champion Robin Larsson, World RX event winner Niclas Grönholm, and ARX2 champion Fraser McConnell in the Supercar class. The likes of Marcus Grönholm, Per Eklund, Stig-Olov Walfridson, and Andreas Eriksson will also compete in a separate ‘Legends’ class.
