Just days after Renault Sport’s Clio Rally3 passed its FIA homologation, M-Sport Poland has launched the Ford Fiesta Rally3 Evo – a comprehensive update of the existing Rally3 model.
The Fiesta Rally3 made its competition debut two years ago, and in that time has had the FIA’s entry-level four-wheel-drive class all to itself.
The introduction of the Clio Rally3 to the mix changes that, and as revealed by DirtFish in February, M-Sport has made sure its put its best foot forward with the release of the new Rally 3 Evo.
Based on the facelifted Fiesta, the new car features several key updates but most notably a new rear wing which has been borrowed from the car’s bigger brother, the Fiesta Rally2.
But under the hood the Rally3 Evo benefits from shorter gear ratios – to allow for punchier acceleration – new gravel and Tarmac dampers as well as new front brake ducts.
M-Sport Poland managing director Maciej Woda confessed the launch of the new Clio has prompted his team to extract the maximum from the Fiesta Rally3.
“The intention is that the Fiesta Rally3 Evo helps our customers when fighting for their championships,” he said.
“This year we will face competition in the Rally3 category from another manufacturer which we are very much looking forward to.
“This is competition, though. We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to make sure the Fiesta Rally3 Evo is the most competitive product available on the market and this comprehensive update underlines that.
“Make no mistake either, development is a continuous process with all cars produced by M-Sport Poland as we are always seeking to push the boundaries of what’s possible with our cars.”
Jon Armstrong will debut the car on this weekend’s Rally Islas Canarias in the European Rally Championship, although updates won’t be available to customers until the middle of the year.
