The World Rally Championship’s WRC3 title fight could come down to the result of an appeal being heard by the FIA next week.
It relates to the result of the Acropolis Rally, where Yohan Rossel won the class in a Citroën C3 Rally2 before being disqualified for a homologation concern involving an overweight subframe.
That handed victory to Rossel’s main title rival Kajetan Kajetanowicz, who as it stands will head to this month’s Monza Rally season finale as the championship leader.
Rossel confirmed his intention to appeal the disqualification at the time in an Instagram post, and did so on September 16. A date has now been given for his hearing.
The relevant parties will convene at the FIA’s headquarters in Paris and over video conference next Tuesday (November 9) at 9.30am local time.
If the appeal is successful, Rossel will head to Monza with his fourth WRC3 win of the season reinstated and a 15-point championship lead over Kajetanowicz when dropped scores are taken into account, with 30 available over the title-deciding weekend.
